Connecting Claude to Insight Cloud via MCP

Who this is for: Claude workspace owners and admins setting up the Insight Cloud connector, and end users connecting to it.

Before you start

  • You need to be an owner or admin of your Claude Team or Enterprise workspace to add a connector. Members without admin rights won't see the option.

  • On a personal Claude plan, you can add the connector yourself with no admin involvement.

  • Each user connects with their own Insight Cloud login. Users only get access to the subscriptions and semantic views already available to them in Insight Cloud.

Step 1 — Add the connector (admin, once per workspace)

  1. Sign in to claude.ai as a workspace admin.

  2. Go to Customize → Connectors.

  3. Select Add custom connector.

  4. Enter a name — we recommend Insight Cloud Intelligence.

  5. Enter the MCP server URL: https://cloud.seekinsights.com/mcp

  6. Save.

There is nothing else to configure. Claude handles authentication automatically, so you won't be asked for a client ID, client secret, or scopes.

Once saved, the connector is available to everyone in your workspace.

Step 2 — Connect your account (each user)

  1. Open Connectors in Claude.

  2. Find Insight Cloud Intelligence and select Connect.

  3. A new tab opens to sign in to Insight Cloud. Complete the sign-in and approve access.

  4. You'll return to Claude with the connector showing as connected.

Step 3 — Set tool permissions (optional)

Open the connector in Claude to see the tools it exposes. For each one you can choose:

  • Always allow — runs without asking.

  • Ask every time — Claude requests approval before each use.

  • Always block — never runs.

Step 4 — Enable the connector in your conversation

Connecting your account doesn't automatically enable the connector in every chat. In the conversation or project where you want to use it, open the connectors menu and confirm Insight Cloud Intelligence is toggled on.

This is the most common setup issue: users report "no connector available" while showing as connected, because it's switched off in that thread.

Troubleshooting

"No connector available" even though I'm connected. Check the connectors toggle in that specific conversation or project (Step 4).

The connector appears greyed out or disabled. Your session may have expired. Open the connector and select Reconnect to sign in to Insight Cloud again.

I don't see new tools after an Insight Cloud update. Open the connector and select Refresh Tool List. Claude doesn't always pick up changes immediately.

I can't find "Add custom connector." You're not an admin of your Claude workspace. Ask your workspace owner to complete Step 1.

What to expect

Insight Cloud Intelligence runs a full analysis pipeline for each question — query planning, SQL generation, execution, and result analysis. Responses typically take several minutes. This is normal and doesn't mean the request has failed.
